New Delhi, Oct. 17 -- President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday departed for a state visit to the Philippines, where he will hold restricted and delegation-level talks with his Philippines counterpart Rodrigo Roa Duterte in Manila.

Mr Kovind will also participate in business and community events. He will also interact with the Indian community there which numbers about 1,30,000.

The official Twitter account of Rashtrapati Bhavan said, ''President Kovind departs for a state visit to the Philippines. This is the first state visit by a President to Philippines in 13 years. Following the same, the President shall visit Japan to attend the Enthronement Ceremony of Emperor Naruhito''.
