New Delhi, May 22 -- President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday conferred six Kirti Chakras and 33 Shaurya Chakras to the personnel of the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces and State Police.
Four of the Kirti Chakras and seven Shaurya Chakras were conferred posthumously.
The Gallantry awards were given to the personnel for displaying raw courage, unparalleled bravery and total disregard to personal safety in the line of duty, a Defence Ministry statement said.
They displayed their bravery during various operations related to counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency in J&K and the North-East. Dreaded terrorists were neutralised and apprehended during these operations, and arms and ammunition were recovered.
