Kochi, Dec. 19 -- A departmental investigation has been ordered against K.G. Pratap Chandran, a police officer suspended following allegations that he assaulted a pregnant woman at a police station.
The action comes after video footage showing the incident sparked public outrage.
The incident reportedly took place on June 20, 2024, when Shaimol (41), wife of businessman Benjo Baby, visited Ernakulam North Police Station after her husband's detention in a case involving two men evading arrest. The family claims that the officer physically assaulted Shaimol despite knowing she was pregnant.
