Hubballi, Dec. 22 -- A six-month-pregnant 19-year-old woman and her unborn child were killed in Karnataka's Hubballi district not by strangers, but by members of her own family, in a case police say was driven by opposition to her inter-caste marriage.
The woman, identified as Manya, had married a man of her choice earlier this year, crossing rigid caste lines that her family refused to accept. That decision, police said, ultimately cost both her life and that of her unborn child.
