Hyderabad, Sept. 18 -- Hyderabad-based Preeti Kidney Hospital performed Tele-robotic Surgery on a16-months baby, who was born with a congenital kidney problem, in the first-ever such procedure done on an infant.
This would be the first in the world to perform telesurgery on a youngest 16-months baby, who was discharged the very next day. However, a similar telesurgery had been earlier reported on an eight-year-old in China, the Hospital Managing Director and Chief Urologist Dr Chandra Mohan, who performed telerobotic surgery with the government permission, said in a press conference here yesterday.
Using India's indigenously developed SSI Mantra robotic system, such telesurgery was successfully performed 12-days back, the Chief Urologist ...
