Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 23 -- A major fire in the early hours of Monday reduced three school vehicles to charred remains at Chenkottukonam in the state capital, causing substantial property loss but no casualties.
The blaze broke out at around 2:30 am inside the campus of Madhavavilasam Higher Secondary School, where the vehicles had been parked after service.
Residents living near the school reported hearing unusual noises before noticing flames and thick smoke rising from the ground, following which emergency services were alerted.
Units of the Kerala Fire and Rescue Services from Kazhakootam and Chackai stations rushed to the spot and launched a coordinated firefighting operation.
