New Delhi, Sept. 30 -- Praveer Ranjan, an Indian Police Service officer of the 1993 batch from the AGMUT cadre, took charge as the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) today.
He succeeds R.S. Bhatti as DG following the latter's superannuation. The paramilitary force is responsible for securing vital installations and airports across the country.
Ranjan has been on central deputation since April 2024 and was previously serving as the Special Director General in charge of the force's sensitive airport security sector.
Prior to joining the CISF, he held the position of Director General of Police for Chandigarh from August 2022 to March 2024.
