New Delhi, Sept. 30 -- Senior IPS officer, Praveen Kumar today assumed the charge of Director General, Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP).

He took over the charge from Rahul Rasgotra, who retired today after an illustrious tenure. The baton was formally handed over in a brief ceremony held at the ITBP Headquarters, an official statement said.

Before joining the elite Force, Praveen Kumar, an IPS officer of the 1993 West Bengal cadre, was serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau.

Over a distinguished career spanning 32 years, he has held various important assignments both in his cadre West Bengal and Intelligence Bureau.
