Lucknow, Aug. 29 -- Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Deputy Leader, Pramod Tiwari, has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of "strangling democracy" and "defiling the sacred grounds" of the historic Sadaqat Ashram in Bihar.

Terming the recent violent events there as a "black chapter" in independent India's history, Tiwari condemned the BJP workers for vandalism and brutal attacks on Congress workers.

According to Tiwari, BJP workers forcefully broke into the Congress headquarters at Sadaqat Ashram, damaged vehicles, and ransacked the building.
