Kolkata, April 5 -- union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Sunday launched a sharp attack on the West Bengal government, alleging that the state is gradually drifting away from constitutional governance and has become unsafe under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, citing the recent Malda incident as a key concern.

His remarks come amid escalating political sparring between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Trinamool Congress ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026, scheduled to be held on April 23 and 29.
