Palampur, Aug. 2 -- Former Chief Minister and Union Minister Shanta Kumar has expressed concern over the Supreme Court's recent observation on the ongoing environmental crisis in Himachal Pradesh, terming it as a "terrible comment on the worst disaster in the state's history".
While thanking the apex court for highlighting the gravity of the situation, Kumar urged both the Central and State Governments to introspect and take corrective measures urgently.
Referring to the Supreme Court's statement that "if the situation does not change, Himachal will become extinct", Kumar said that the exploitation of nature in the name of development, tourism, and unchecked construction has been pushing the state toward irreversible destruction.
