New Delhi, Jan. 3 -- The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Saturday gave its nod to the decision for distributing free of cost sugar to all beneficiaries falling under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY).

According to officials, the scheme will be implemented from January 2026 to March 2027, a total period of fifteen months.

Sharing details of the decision, Gupta said as part of this initiative, all of the eligible AAY beneficiaries in the national capital will be provided one kilogram of sugar per month, free of cost, which will be properly packed, and branded.

This is said to be one of the steps in the Delhi government's pro-poor policies, to ensure that poor have access to quality supplies.
