Asansol, April 9 -- The state urban development and municipal affairs department on Thursday appointed S. Ponnamballam, IAS, district magistrate and collector of West Burdwan district, as the Chairman of Asansol Durgapur Development Authority (ADDA).
The post of chairman of Asansol Durgapur Development Authority had become vacant after Kabi Dutta, who is the owner of a hotel chain in Asansol and Durgapur region, had resigned after he was declared as the Trinamool Congress official candidate of Durgapur West assembly seat on March 26 this year.
He is contesting against sitting MLA and BJP leader Lakhsman Ghorui on the Durgapur West assembly seat and has already submitted his nomination papers.
