Dhaka, Jan. 20 -- Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the coming polls will mark a defining moment for the country's political history, remarking that the outcome would determine if Bangladesh will continue to exist as a secular, pluralist, and liberal democracy, or descend into radical religious extremism.
Speaking at a discussion marking the 90th birth anniversary of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman, Fakhrul said the vote was not merely an ordinary electoral contest, but rather a "tough test" determining the course of the nation's future.
