Chandigarh, Nov. 11 -- Voting is underway for the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election in Punjab, with polling beginning at 7 am and scheduled to continue until 6 pm on Tuesday.
Fifteen candidates are in the fray for the seat, which became vacant following the death of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Kashmir Singh Sohal, who was elected in 2022.
A total of 222 polling booths have been set up across the constituency. For the first time in a bypoll, fourteen companies of central security forces have been deployed to ensure peaceful voting. Officials have classified 114 booths as "sensitive," where additional security measures have been implemented.
