Guwahati, Sept. 22 -- In Assam, voting begins for the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), comprising five districts- Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang, Udalguri and Tamulpur to elect a 40 member council.

Polling started for the election to 40 seats of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) today at 7.30 am.

According to the State Election Commission, polling is expected to continue until 4 pm, with any necessary repolling scheduled for September 24. Vote counting will take place on September 26.

The Election Commission has assured that sufficient arrangements, including strong security measures, are in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the polls.
