Chandigarh, Dec. 19 -- Celebrations following the Block Samiti election results in Ludhiana spiralled into violence after clashes erupted between supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress, prompting police to register a case against 18 Congress workers for alleged involvement in firing and rioting.

Police officials said an FIR has been lodged at the Sadar police station against six identified individuals and 12 others who are yet to be identified. The action was taken after videos circulating online showed armed confrontation and gunshots during the altercation.
