Chennai, May 27 -- Notification for the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha
to fill six seats from the Tamil Nadu Assembly will be issued on June two.
The filing of nominations would begin that day once the notification was issued,
Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Ms Archana Patnaik said here on Tuesday.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the poll schedule to fill up
six seats from the State that would fall vacant on July 24.
The last date for filing of nominations was June 9 and the scrutiny would take
place the next day.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is June 12.
The elections, if necessary would be held on June 19 and the counting would
take place the same day, Ms Archana Patnaik said.
