Jaipur, Dec. 27 -- Tension prevailed in Chomu town on the outskirts of the state capital following stone throwing at police in the aftermath of removal of debris from outside a local religious place in wee hours Friday.

Police resorted to lathi charge and also burst tear gas shells post midnight to quell the stone throwing miscreants.

The internet shutdown was also forced in the town until Saturday morning.

Around 50 persons were rounded up this morning for interrogation, Special Commissioner Police Rahul Prakash said.

Stone throwing started following rumours of untoward incident while the police was getting the area cleared, outside the local mosque, of boulders, stones and other debris around 02:00am Friday.
