Thiruvananthapuram, July 11 -- For the first time in India, a police station in Kerala has been awarded ISO certification by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a body under the Central Government.

The Arthunkal Police Station in Cherthala, Alappuzha, received the BIS accreditation in recognition of its operational excellence.

This is the first instance when a national agency is certifying a police station based on the quality of its services.
