Hyderabad, Feb. 11 -- The city police have busted a foreign cigarette smuggling racket and arrested two individuals.
A total of 45,000 packets of banned foreign cigarettes worth Rs 20.5 lakh were seized from their possession.
In a joint operation, the Commissioner's Task Force, South West Zone, and Habeeb Nagar Police raided a warehouse in Afsal Sagar, Agapura Road, and arrested Mohd Imran (42) and Md Ayub (50), an auto driver, while they were illegally selling foreign cigarettes, according to a police statement issued on Tuesday.
Mohd Imran, a native of Nizamabad and owner of SN Traders Pan Masala in Aghapura, was allegedly procuring banned foreign cigarettes from contacts in Gujarat and Delhi. He smuggled the contraband into Hyderabad ...
