Chandigarh, July 18 -- The Punjab government has intensified its crackdown on child begging with the launch of Jeevanjot Project-2.
In a swift operation conducted across 18 locations within just two days, authorities rescued 41 children from the streets.
In several cases, including those reported from Bathinda, officials suspect the children may not be living with their biological parents. To verify their identities, DNA testing has been ordered. Until the results are confirmed, the rescued minors will remain under state protection at child care homes.
