Kushinagar, March 25 -- A shocking case has emerged where police personnel were allegedly involved in a Ganja smuggling racket, officials disclosed on Wednesday.
The case came to light during the investigation of a reported robbery, which later turned out to be fake. Police discovered that four constables were collaborating with drug traffickers to transport ganja from Odisha to various districts including Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, and Mau.
Authorities on Tuesday arrested four accused, including two constables, and recovered 21.1 kg of ganja, Rs 72,000 in cash, and a motorcycle used in the operation. The accused constables have been suspended, and dismissal proceedings have been initiated.
