Srinagar, Sept. 19 -- Police in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir today detained an alleged habitual offender under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) for his repeated involvement in cases of theft, house trespass and offences against women, officials said.
"The accused, identified as Waseem Ahmad Wani a resident of Ganowpora, has been shifted to Udhampur Jail following the issuance of detention orders by the competent authority," Police said.
According to police, Wani is a repeat offender involved in at least eight FIRs registered at different police stations. His activities were described as a persistent threat to public peace and community safety.
