Srinagar, March 19 -- Police have cracked a case of abduction and murder of a girl from south Kashmir by arresting a 31-year-old Srinagar resident.
The accused identified as Altaf Mir a resident of Lawaypora, Srinagar was arrested by police and based on his disclosure, the victim's body was recovered from his house.
On March 16, Police Station Kokernag in Anantnag district received a missing report regarding a girl (name withheld), and an investigation was promptly initiated.
"During the course of investigation, technical evidence indicated that she may have been abducted by Altaf Mir of Lawaypora, Srinagar," a police statement said.
Initially, police registered a case under sections 87 & 49 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
