Amravati (Maharashtra), March 26 -- A Quick Response Team (QRT) constable allegedly shot himself inside the Police Commissioner's office premises here on Thursday morning, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Vijay Nagapure (35), who was on night duty.
According to officials, he was present at the police headquarters ground earlier in the morning and later went to the QRT room around 9:30 am, where he used his service pistol to shoot himself after other personnel had left the room.
Colleagues rushed to the spot after hearing the gunshot, but he was declared dead on the spot.
Senior officers, including the Police Commissioner, reached the scene immediately after being informed.
