Srinagar, Oct. 3 -- Police in Awantipora sub-district of Jammu and Kashmir today busted illegal rebranding of government rice and arrested an accused. Police also seized a vehicle which was transporting government issued rice in packaged bags.

Police said they received credible information about unlawful rebranding of government issued rice at Shaltokuna Awantipora and acting promptly on the input, a police party conducted a raid at the identified location.

"During the operation, a vehicle was intercepted and seized. On inspection, the vehicle was found loaded with 80 bags of rice falsely packed in apple-branded bags, 37 additional rice bags, along with other incriminating articles," a police statement said.
