Chennai, Feb. 8 -- The Office of Protector of Emigrants (POE), Tamil Nadu, Ministry
of External Affairs organised a Walkathon at Besant Nagar Beach here on Saturday.
About 400 people participated in the walkathon.
The event saw performances by State Police Band, DGP Office Headquarters and a
nukkad natak cum performance on safe emigration by Uzhavan Kalai Kuzhu group.
The Walkathon marked the beginning of a month-long awareness campaign across
Tamil Nadu -- 'Paathu Ponga', where the PoE Office will educate citizens about safe
and legal emigration practices and the risks of unauthorized overseas job placements.
