Dimapur, Jan. 13 -- The Poanglum Mini Hornbill Festival, organised by the Chang Khulei Setshang, got underway at Tuensang parade ground on Wednesday.

The inaugural day of the festival was marked by log pulling, cultural presentation, and indigenous games such as tug of war and Naga wrestling.

Nagaland deputy chief minister Y Patton, who was the special guest of the programme, in his address, conveyed greetings to the Chang community on the occasion of their premier festival Poanglum.

He noted that Tuensang is considered the mini Nagaland where many tribes of the state coexist.

Patton said the Chang community plays a role in ushering peace and harmony among the communities of the district.
