Guwahati, Sept. 2 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Mizoram and Manipur on September 13 in what officials describe as a major developmental and political outreach to the Northeast.

According to official sources, the Prime Minister's first halt will be at Aizawl where he will inaugurate the newly completed Bairabi-Sairang railway line.

The 51.38-km project, executed at a cost of Rs 6,527 crore under the Centre's Act East Policy, connects the Mizoram capital with Assam's Silchar and is expected to boost trade, regional connectivity, and movement of essential goods while integrating the state with the national railway grid.
