Guwahati, June 30 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Assam on September 8 this year to inaugurate India's first bamboo-based bio-refinery at Numaligarh Refinery.

Ahead of the scheduled visit, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the refinery at Golaghat district and took stock of the progress of the bio refinery.

Sarma also took stock of the Prime Minister's proposed visit to Assam on September 8 when he will also dedicate the ethanol project to the nation.

The Assam Chief Minister also held a review meeting with the NRL functionaries with the Ministers, MP and MLAs and took note of the progress of bamboo based ethanol plant.
