Imphal, Sept. 13 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing two public meetings in Manipur today.

Heavy rain lashed the state last night, but state government officials were expecting favourable weather today to ensure a smooth flow of the scheduled programme.

Security has been beefed up and security personnel were posted in all areas where the PM will be addressing meetings. The stages and flags which were earlier destroyed at Churachandpur by Kuki youths have been repaired.

The roads are deserted, educational institutes closed, business establishments shut as the Coordinating Committee (Cor Com), a conglomeration of Manipur-based militant organisations, have called a total shutdown today to oppose the visit.
