Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 24 -- The BJP-ruled Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on the BJP City District Committee for installing flex boards, flags and banners in public places without permission in connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the city.
According to corporation officials, the unauthorised installations appeared along major roads, footpaths and even road dividers, particularly on the stretch from the airport to Putharikandam ground.
The displays, which featured images of the Prime Minister and senior BJP leaders, triggered widespread public complaints over obstruction and violation of civic rules.
