Mumbai, Sept. 26 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured maximum assistance from the Centre to help Maharashtra tackle the unprecedented crisis caused by heavy rains and floods across large parts of the state, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said today.

Fadnavis, along with both deputy chief ministers, submitted a formal memorandum to the Centre seeking financial support. He also held a detailed hour-long discussion with the Prime Minister about the situation.

During the meeting, he briefed PM Modi on the extent of damage and emphasised the need for aid beyond the limits set by the National Disaster Management norms.
