Kolkata, Aug. 5 -- : With West Bengal Assembly elections just round the corner, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is intensifying its political activities in the state, with party insiders indicating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Dum Dum in the third week of August.

State BJP sources said that preparations are underway to finalise the Prime Minister's itinerary. "Coordination is ongoing with the Prime Minister's Office. Two grounds near Dum Dum Airport have been shortlisted for the rally, and one will be finalised shortly. We are hopeful that the PM will be available for the proposed date," said a senior member of the BJP's state committee.
