Mumbai, Aug. 15 -- Maharashtra state Congress Committee President Harshvardhan Sapkal said today that India gained independence from British rule after sacrifices made by a huge number of freedom fighters but the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which is the parent body of the BJP actually collaborated with the British.
"After a huge struggle and the sacrifices of thousands of freedom fighters, the country gained independence. The Congress made a huge contribution to the freedom movement.
