Kolkata, Aug. 22 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated a slew of projects worth over Rs 5,200 crore, asserting that modern infrastructure in West Bengal would play a key role in India's journey towards becoming the world's third-largest economy.
Addressing a public function at Dum Dum Central Jail ground, the Prime Minister said his metro ride between Jessore Road and Jai Hind Bimanbandar earlier in the evening reflected people's excitement over the city's rapidly improving transport network.
"I had the opportunity to accelerate the pace of development of West Bengal. Speaking to passengers on the metro, I understood that people are elated about the improved public transport system," the Prime Minister said.
