Muscat/New Delhi, Dec. 18 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi was today conferred the 'Order of Oman', the Sultanate of Oman's highest civilian honour by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, for his role and contribution to strengthening relations between India and Oman.

The Sultanate's most prestigious civilian award was conferred during a formal ceremony in Al Baraka Palace.

This high-level gesture coincided with the observance of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations, underscoring the deep-rooted historical and maritime connections that define the India-Oman friendship.
