PM Modi arrives in Accra, welcomed at airport by President Mahama in special gesture
Accra/New Delhi, July 2 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Accra on a two-day state visit to Ghana, and in a special gesture, was received by President John Dramani Mahama at the airport and accorded a ceremonial welcome.
PM Modi is the first Indian PM to visit Ghana after 30 years.He was presented with a Guard of Honour, along with a 21-gun salute at the airport.
The Indian diaspora lined the roads from the airport, waving the Indian tricolour and shouting "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" as his convoy passed towards the hotel.
This gesture of the Ghanaian President welcoming PM Modi is reflective of the strong and historic bonds of friendship between the two nations, a statement said.
