London/New Delhi, May 6 -- India and the UK today successfully concluded an ambitious and mutually beneficial Free Trade Agreement, describing it as a historic milestone. PM Narendra Modi and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke on the phone to congratulate each other on this occasion.

The UK Prime Minister's Office released a video of the two leaders speaking to each other.

The UK PM says into the speaker: "Congratulations Prime minister we've achieved something truly historic today.

"This is the biggest deal the UK has done since we left the EU, and I think I'm right in saying it's the most ambitious that India has ever done."

PM Modi, speaking in Hindi, says: "The credit for this goes to your vision, and to your decisive leadership....
