New Delhi, Oct. 7 -- The attack on Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai has attracted all-round condemnation, including from PM Modi, political leaders across the spectrum as well as by the Supreme Court lawyers' bodies.

According to eyewitnesses, an advocate, identified as Kishore, attempted to throw an object reported to be a sports shoe towards the CJI during proceedings and shouted, "Sanatan Dharma ka apmaan nahi sahega Hindustan" ("India will not tolerate disrespect towards Sanatan Dharma"). He was immediately restrained and escorted out by the Supreme Court security.
