Lucknow, Dec. 23 -- : Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has said that the plight of farmers in Uttar Pradesh has worsened under BJP rule.

He said that the promises of a "double engine government" remained hollow in UP. The government has never fulfilled the promises made to farmers, as a result, their plight is worsening day by day. The burden of inflation and debt are forcing them to commit suicide. This is the gift the BJP government has given farmers on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, Yadav said.
