Players to be evacuated by train from Dharamsala: BCCI
Mumbai, May 8 -- In an unprecedented move prompted by escalating cross-border tensions, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday night initiated emergency evacuation measures for players and staff.
The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off mid-way due to security reasons. Spectators were swiftly evacuated from the venue and heavy security was deployed in and around the stadium. Both PBKS and DC squads were immediately escorted to their team hotels under armed security cover.
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla confirmed that a special train is being arranged from a nearby station to transport all players, support staff, match officials, and the broadcast crew to a safer location.
