Buenos Aires, June 2 -- Winger Guido Mainero scored in the second half as Platense secured its first ever Argentine top-flight title with a 1-0 victory over Huracan on Sunday.
Platense took the lead just after the hour at Estadio Unico in Santiago del Estero when Huracan failed to deal with a floating Vicente Taborda free-kick and Mainero sent an acrobatic first-time effort in the far corner.
Huracan controlled almost two thirds of the total possession but lacked potency in attack as Platense edged to the most important victory in its 120-year history.
