Kolkata, March 21 -- Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport today installed PET bottle shredder machine inside the terminal building.
The move is aimed at minimising single use of plastic usage.
Each machine is designed to shred the used plastic bottles to fine pieces thus preventing their reuse.
Earlier Kolkata Airport had banned single use plastic items like plastic straws, cups, plastic bags etc. inside the terminal building.
The concessionaires at Kolkata Airport are using bio-degradable cutleries and straws, environment friendly clay cups, wooden stirrers, paper cups, paper bags and bio-degradable garbage bags.
