Chennai, April 19 -- Senior BJP leader and union Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday demanded that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M. K. Stalin, whose party is a key ally of the Opposition INDIA bloc, should apologise to the women of Tamil Nadu for stalling the Women's Reservation Bill, which would have ensured enhanced their representation in Parliament and State Legislatures.

Talking to reporters here, he asserted that the Women's Bill was aimed at empowering women from all sections of society, and accused Opposition parties of prioritising political calculations over social progress.
