Bengaluru, Dec. 22 -- Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Monday sounded the alarm over rampant illegal mining in the Aravalli hills, accusing the BJP-led governments at both the Centre and in the states of turning a blind eye to environmental destruction.

Pilot claimed that over 10,000 illegal mining operations were currently active in the Aravalli region, posing a severe threat to the ecosystem, wildlife, and the local climate.

"The government is allowing this devastation to happen right under their nose," he said, warning that the continued exploitation could accelerate desertification, disrupt the monsoon, and irreversibly damage the environment for future generations.
