Chandrapur, Jan. 4 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday asserted that the mandate of the people would remain decisive even if opposition parties approach the courts against the unopposed election of Mahayuti candidates in the ongoing civic polls.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance has secured victory in 68 seats unopposed in the municipal corporation elections scheduled for January 15 across the state.
Opposition parties have alleged that candidates were compelled to withdraw through intimidation and monetary inducements.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS) announced on Saturday that it would challenge these unopposed wins in court.
