People of Manipur pay tributes to jawan who died on border

Imphal, May 13 -- The mortal remains of Chingakham Deepak, a BSF jawan who died in firing by Pakistan, arrived here on Tuesday.

The coffin adorned by a tricolour was laid at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport where Governor A K Bhalla, MPs, MLAs, family members, and a large number of people paid floral tributes.

BSF and Manipur Police personnel also paid floral tributes.

The body was taken to Yairipok, Imphal East, where the last rites were performed as per Manipuri traditions.

Those who visited the residence included former CM N.Biren Singh.
