Srinagar, March 19 -- A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator, Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, has submitted a private member's bill in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly seeking a comprehensive legal framework for the reintegration of Kashmiri Pandits and other displaced communities.
Titled "The Kashmiri Pandit and Migrant Re-integration Bill, 2026," the bill of Muntazir, an MLA from Budgam, calls for the establishment of a statutory Jammu and Kashmir Re-integration Commission to facilitate the safe, voluntary and dignified return of migrants displaced during the 1989-90 period of militancy. The Budget session of J&K Assembly is set to resume on March 27 in Jammu.
